✉ support@deepsert.comAbout Security+
CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) is the world's most recognized entry-level cybersecurity certification. It validates the baseline skills needed to perform core security functions — including threat detection, network hardening, access management, and incident response. It's vendor-neutral, meaning it applies regardless of which tools or platforms an employer uses. Over 700,000 Security+ certifications have been issued globally.
It's not easy, but it's very passable with the right preparation. The exam is 90 questions (multiple choice + performance-based) and requires a 750/900 to pass. The biggest reason people fail is not enough practice with performance-based questions and relying only on video content. The DeepSert bundle includes 3 full practice exams and Anki flashcards specifically designed to close those gaps.
Security+ is valid for 3 years. After that, you can renew by earning 50 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or by retaking the exam. Most people renew by earning their next certification (like CySA+ or Network+), which automatically satisfies the renewal requirement. In practice, by the time your Security+ expires, you'll likely have moved up the certification ladder anyway.
Security+ qualifies you for roles including: SOC Analyst (Tier 1), IT Security Specialist, Cybersecurity Analyst, Junior Penetration Tester, Security Administrator, and Systems Administrator with security responsibilities. Salary range: $75,000–$95,000 for entry-level positions. It also satisfies DoD 8570/8140 requirements for U.S. government and military cybersecurity roles — one of the largest employers of Security+ holders.
Absolutely. Security+ demand is at an all-time high. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 33% job growth for information security analysts through 2033 — far above the national average. The SY0-701 exam was updated in 2023 to include cloud security, AI threats, and zero-trust architecture, keeping it current with what employers actually need. It remains the single best entry point into cybersecurity in 2025.
About the DeepSert Bundle
The bundle includes: (1) a comprehensive video course covering all SY0-701 exam domains, (2) three full-length practice exams with detailed explanations for every answer, (3) Anki flashcard decks organized by exam domain with over 800 cards, and (4) a quick-reference study guide. Everything is designed to be used together in a specific study sequence — not just watched passively.
After purchase, you'll receive an email with your access link and login instructions within a few minutes. The course is hosted on a dedicated learning platform — no app download required. You'll have lifetime access, so you can study at your own pace and return to any material as needed. If you don't receive your email within 15 minutes, check your spam folder or contact support@deepsert.com.
All video content works on any modern browser — desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone. No special software is needed for the video course or practice exams. For Anki flashcards, you'll use the free Anki app (available on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android). We provide setup instructions so you can have your flashcard decks loaded and running in under 10 minutes.
Yes. The current bundle covers the SY0-701 exam objectives in full. When CompTIA updates the exam, we update the course materials accordingly — and existing customers receive updated content at no additional charge. You're not buying a snapshot; you're buying access to current, maintained study materials.
No prior IT experience is required. The course starts from the fundamentals and builds systematically. However, if you have some IT background — helpdesk, networking, or basic sysadmin experience — you'll move faster through the foundational sections. Complete beginners typically take 75–90 days to be exam-ready. People with some IT background often pass in 45–60 days.
Studying & Timeline
Most students are exam-ready in 60–90 days studying 1–2 hours per day. Factors that affect your timeline: prior IT experience (faster), study consistency (the biggest factor), and how actively you use the practice exams. We recommend scheduling your exam before you feel "completely ready" — having a deadline accelerates your studying significantly.
We recommend a three-phase approach: Phase 1 (weeks 1–6) — watch the video course domain by domain, doing Anki cards daily for each domain you've covered. Phase 2 (weeks 7–9) — take one full practice exam, review every wrong answer, then watch the relevant video sections again. Phase 3 (week 10+) — repeat practice exams until you're consistently scoring 85%+ before booking the real exam.
Yes — and this is exactly who we designed it for. Most Security+ failures happen because of poor practice exam quality (questions that don't match the real exam format) and over-reliance on passive video watching. Our practice exams are written to match the difficulty and structure of the actual SY0-701 exam, and the Anki system forces active recall — the most effective study method proven by cognitive science. Students who failed with other materials regularly pass on their first attempt with DeepSert.
Free practice tests are typically outdated, incorrectly worded, or teach you to pattern-match specific answers rather than understand the material. Our questions are written to match the actual SY0-701 exam format — including the exact types of performance-based scenarios CompTIA uses. Every question includes a detailed explanation of why each answer is right or wrong, so you're learning, not just quizzing yourself.
Anki is a free, open-source flashcard app that uses spaced repetition — it shows you cards you struggle with more often, and cards you know well less often. This makes it dramatically more efficient than random flashcard review. After purchase, you'll download our pre-built Security+ deck and import it into Anki (takes about 5 minutes). Then spend 15–20 minutes per day reviewing — Anki schedules everything automatically. It's the single most effective thing you can add to your study routine.

We're actively developing the Network+ bundle — our goal is to have it available in 2025.
